Peter Schleich holds a Physics degree (Dr.rer.nat.) from the University Innsbruck, Austria. His PhD thesis in 2006 was related to technical, psychophysical and audiological aspects of bilateral cochlear implantation. He joined Research & Development at MED-EL in July 2000, and has been working in the fields of psychoacoustics, psychophysics, and signal processing. In his position as Team Leader Coding Strategies between 2010 and 2017 he developed signal processing of future cochlear implant audio processors with a focus on electrophysiology and bilateral use case. He managed the scientific field of bilateral cochlear implantation until 2020 and was until 2016 also responsible for developing cochlear implantation as a standard treatment for unilateral deafness. Between 2017 and 2021, Peter joined MED-EL Education & Training and made the science and technology involved with cochlear implants interactively accessible to a broader audience in the new online platform (www.switch-on-life.com), which he develops further for new use cases since July 2021 as project manager Digital Development at MED-EL.
